What Smartlead does well
- Unlimited connected mailboxes on every plan, including the $39 Base plan, so the cost of a large inbox fleet is the inboxes, not the sequencer.
- Automatic rotation across every connected mailbox with per-mailbox limits, a unified inbox, and verification credits included in each plan.
- Warm-up free on the Smart and Prime plans, with a premium pool, and the option to add private SmartServers for teams that want their own sending infrastructure.
- Client workspaces with white label at $29 a month each from Pro, three included on Prime, an API and webhooks, and mailboxes purchasable inside the app from three providers.
- A free trial without a card, no lock-in on monthly plans, and a named Australian company behind it.
Where it falls short
- Fees are non-refundable: the terms give no refund or credit for cancelling during a paid period, and the 50% first-month promotion ends in auto-renewal at full price.
- Warm-up costs $59 a month on Base and Pro, which more than doubles the Base plan's price if you need it.
- Base's 2,000 contacts and 6,000 sends run out quickly, and CRM access, the dialer and white label are all paid add-ons.
- The mailboxes sold inside the app come from third parties, Zapmail, InfraInbox and Mailreef, at $4.50 and up plus domain fees, which is dearer than buying Google Workspace inboxes directly from a reseller.
- The 100,000 businesses figure and the Fortune 500 claim are the company's own, and the terms name only the law of the State without saying which.

What Smartlead is
Smartlead is a cold email sequencer built for volume. Its defining choice is unlimited connected mailboxes on every plan, so an agency running two hundred inboxes pays the same platform fee as a founder running five and is metered instead on contacts, sends and verified emails. Around that core sit automatic rotation across mailboxes, a warm-up pool, a unified inbox, client workspaces with white label, an API, a dialer, and a storefront called SmartSenders that sells mailboxes from third-party providers inside the app. The company is 521 Products Pty Ltd, trading as Smartlead.ai from Sydney, and the site claims more than 100,000 businesses from solo founders to Fortune 500 companies, which is its own figure.
Smartlead pricing
Four plans on monthly or yearly billing, with yearly 17% cheaper. Base is $39 a month, or $32 billed yearly, for 2,000 contacts, 6,000 email sends and 2,000 verified emails a month. Pro is $94, or $78 yearly, for 30,000 contacts, 90,000 sends and 30,000 verified emails, and opens client workspaces. Unlimited Smart, the plan the page marks most popular, is $174, or $144 yearly, for unlimited contacts, 150,000 sends and 50,000 verified emails. Unlimited Prime is $379, or $315 yearly, for unlimited contacts, 500,000 sends and 170,000 verified emails, with three SmartServers and three client workspaces included. Warm-up is free on Smart and Prime and a $59-a-month add-on on Base and Pro. CRM access is a $39 add-on, the dialer $29, white label $29 a month per client workspace from Pro up, and private SmartServers start at $39 a server a month. Every plan has a free trial without a card, and the page advertises 50% off the first month.
SmartSenders prices the mailboxes it resells: fresh Google or Outlook mailboxes through Zapmail at $4.50 a month plus $13 a domain a year, Outlook through InfraInbox at $5 plus $16, SMTP through Mailreef at $3.99 plus $19, and pre-warmed Google or Outlook through Zapmail at $9 plus $18. The terms are strict on money: subscriptions renew automatically unless you say otherwise, fees are non-refundable, and no refund or credit is given for cancelling during the current period, although the FAQ is clear that there is no long-term commitment.
Campaigns, rotation and integrations
Connect mailboxes with OAuth or app passwords, or buy them in the app, set a daily limit per mailbox, and campaigns rotate across every connected account automatically with reply detection into a unified inbox. Email verification credits are included per plan and more can be bought one-off or monthly. Agencies get separate client workspaces, white label from Pro, and an API with webhooks; Zapier and Clay connect the rest, the CRM add-on covers HubSpot and others, and SmartDialer adds calling. Smartlead’s YouTube channel is unusually practical, with tutorials on running large volumes.
Deliverability
Rotation and per-mailbox limits are the foundation, and the warm-up pool is the question to settle before choosing a plan: free on Smart and Prime, $59 a month on Base and Pro, with tiers the page calls foundation, growth and premium. SmartDelivery placement testing and SmartServers private infrastructure are the upgrades for teams that want to measure and own more of the chain. The mailboxes themselves remain the biggest variable, which is why where you buy them matters as much as the sequencer.
Who Smartlead is for, and who should look elsewhere
Smartlead suits agencies and teams running many inboxes who want a sequencer priced by volume rather than seats or mailboxes, with rotation, warm-up and client workspaces built in. It is a poor fit for solo senders with one or two inboxes who would pay $59 for warm-up, or for anyone who wants a refund if they cancel mid-term.
Smartlead alternatives
Instantly is the closest match, with unlimited inboxes and warmup on every plan from $47 a month. lemlist adds LinkedIn, SMS and calling with warm-up included on every plan. Outreach is the enterprise sales engagement platform. Mailmeteor is the budget option for small sequences from Gmail. The sequencer comparison scores all of them. Salesforge adds LinkedIn steps with unlimited mailboxes and warm-up from $48 a month.
Using Smartlead with PureMail
This is one of the most common pairings in cold email. Connect PureMail’s Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 inboxes to Smartlead with OAuth or app passwords, set a conservative daily limit on each, and let the rotation spread a campaign across the fleet. Buying inboxes through SmartSenders costs $4.50 a Google mailbox plus $13 a domain a year from Zapmail, against PureMail’s $3.30 for 10, $3.10 for 30 to 100 and $2.90 for 101 or more with setup and connection done for you, so the sequencer and the inboxes are best bought separately.

The FAQ says there is no long-term commitment and you can cancel at any time, and subscriptions renew automatically unless you tell Smartlead otherwise.
