What Hunter Email Verifier does well
- A real free tier: 5 checks a day with no account and 100 a month on the Free plan.
- Failed checks and disposable addresses are not charged, and repeats are counted once per billing period.
- Half a credit per check makes verification cheap inside a Hunter plan, down to about $0.004 at Scale yearly.
- Accept-all, disposable and unknown are labelled separately with the sources behind each result.
- API, Sheets add-on, bulk upload and an MCP server, so it fits most list-cleaning workflows.
Where it falls short
- Bought alone, $11 per 1,000 is several times the price of the cheapest bulk verifiers.
- Plan credits are shared with the finder, so heavy finding leaves less for verification.
- No refunds on cancellation for any reason, and Data Platform credits expire after 12 months.
- No accuracy guarantee or refund on bounces; the 4.6 and 4.4 ratings are the vendor's own citations.
- Yearly plans grant the whole year's credits upfront, which suits steady users and not bursty ones.

What Hunter Email Verifier is
Hunter Email Verifier is the verification tool inside Hunter’s platform from Hunter Web Services, Inc. in Delaware. It checks syntax, flags gibberish, disposable, webmail and accept-all addresses, looks up the domain’s MX records and runs a live check against the mail server, then returns valid, accept-all, invalid, disposable or unknown with the sources behind the result. It works as single checks on the web page, bulk uploads, a Google Sheets add-on, an API and an MCP server. For cold email it is the list-cleaning step before a sequencer.
Hunter Email Verifier pricing explained
Verification shares Hunter’s credit system. On the plans a check costs half a credit and a found email one credit: Free gives 50 credits a month, Starter $49 a month for 2,000, Growth $149 for 10,000 and Scale $299 for 25,000, or $34, $104 and $209 a month billed yearly with the year’s credits granted upfront. That works out at about $0.012 a check on monthly Starter down to about $0.004 on yearly Scale, if every credit goes to verification. The Data Platform sells API-only verification credits at $11 per 1,000 and search credits at $50 per 1,000, valid for 12 months. Unknown results and disposable addresses cost nothing, repeats are counted once per billing period, and 5 checks a day are free without an account. The terms give no refunds on cancellation.
How the checks work
Each address goes through format and pattern checks, a disposable and webmail lookup, an MX record check and an SMTP conversation with the receiving server. Accept-all domains, which answer yes to any address, are labelled rather than passed as valid, which is the honest answer and the reason B2B lists always carry some. Bulk jobs run from a file upload or the API, and the Sheets add-on verifies in place.
What that means for cold email
Inside a Hunter plan the verifier is cheap and convenient, and the free allowance covers a small founder list. As a standalone purchase it is dearer than the dedicated bulk verifiers, which charge a fraction of $11 per 1,000, so a team cleaning large lists without using Hunter’s finder should price those first. Either way, drop invalids and disposables, and send to accept-all addresses only from inboxes you can afford to risk.
Who Hunter Email Verifier is for, and who should look elsewhere
Hunter Email Verifier suits teams already on Hunter who want finding and verification on one credit pool, and anyone who needs a few hundred free checks a month. It is a poor fit for cleaning large lists on their own. MillionVerifier sells 10,000 credits for $39 with risky results refunded, ZeroBounce bundles warm-up seeds and placement tests, NeverBounce and Emailable are the other pay-as-you-go staples, Kickbox sells credits from $5, and the Hunter.io profile covers the finder and sequencer the verifier sits inside. The verification tools category compares them.
Using Hunter Email Verifier with PureMail
Verify every list before it reaches PureMail’s Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 inboxes. The inboxes arrive with DNS configured and ready to warm in your sequencer, and a clean list is what keeps them that way: remove invalid and disposable results, treat accept-all addresses as a risk, and keep bounces low so the outreach domains stay healthy.

Hunter Email Verifier FAQ
How much does Hunter Email Verifier cost?
As of 22 October 2026, the Free plan includes 50 credits a month, worth 100 verifications at half a credit each, and the page runs 5 checks a day without an account. Data Platform verification credits cost $11 per 1,000 through the API. On the all-in-one plans, Starter at $49 a month gives 2,000 credits, Growth at $149 gives 10,000 and Scale at $299 gives 25,000.
How does Hunter count credits for verification?
Half a credit per verified email. If Hunter cannot verify an address it returns Unknown and charges nothing, disposable addresses are skipped without a charge, and the same address verified several times in one billing period is counted once. Finding an email costs one credit, so a Starter plan's 2,000 credits could cover 4,000 verifications or 2,000 finds or a mix.
What do Hunter's verification statuses mean?
Valid means the mailbox accepted a live SMTP check. Accept-all means the domain accepts any address, so the result cannot be confirmed and Hunter labels it rather than guessing. Invalid means the address failed syntax, domain or server checks. Disposable flags temporary mailboxes, and Unknown means the server could not be checked, which costs nothing.
Can I verify emails with Hunter for free?
Yes, in two ways. The verifier page runs 5 single checks a day with no sign-up, and a free Hunter account gives 50 credits a month, enough for 100 verifications, plus the bulk verifier, the Sheets add-on and the Chrome extension. The free plan has no card requirement and does not expire, so it suits a founder cleaning a short list.
How does Hunter Email Verifier fit with PureMail?
Verify every list before it reaches a new inbox. Run exports from your lead source through Hunter's bulk verifier or API, drop invalid and disposable results, treat accept-all addresses as a risk, and load the clean list into a sequencer connected to PureMail's Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 inboxes on separate outreach domains. Low bounces protect those inboxes and the domains behind them.
