What Crystal does well

  • A free account that never expires, with every assessment free and 10 LinkedIn profile reads to judge whether the DISC predictions help your writing.
  • Premium is a flat $49 a month or $490 a year for unlimited LinkedIn reads, briefs and meeting briefings, with the Chrome extension included.
  • An API and MCP server that return a DISC type and communication advice for a name, email or LinkedIn URL, and can rewrite a drafted email for the reader.
  • Assessments pricing is published at every tier, and participants never need a licence of their own.
  • Cancel any time from the app and keep everything you made, and the free tier stays free.

Where it falls short

  • Buyer Profiles, the product actually built for sales teams, has no public price and no self-serve checkout.
  • Personality predictions from a LinkedIn profile are inferences, and Crystal's accuracy claims are its own.
  • The free plan's 10 LinkedIn reads run out in one prospecting session.
  • Premium is priced per seat for teams, so a five-rep team pays $245 a month before any sales features.
  • No vendor YouTube channel to check the extension workflow against.

What Crystal is

Crystal is a personality data company: it predicts a DISC personality type for almost anyone from their LinkedIn profile and other public data, then turns the prediction into advice on how to write to them, sell to them or run a meeting with them. It started as a sales tool and now sells four things from one pricing page, an AI coach for individuals, assessments for teams, Buyer Profiles for sales teams, and a Personality API with an MCP server. Crystal Project, Inc. runs it, and the claims about accuracy on its pages are its own. For cold email it is the rare enrichment tool that changes what you write rather than who you write to.

Crystal pricing explained

For individuals, the free account never expires and covers every assessment, your full profile, up to 10 contacts and 10 LinkedIn profile reads through Crystal for Chrome. Premium costs $49 a month or $490 a year, roughly two months free, and adds unlimited LinkedIn reads, a brief on anyone in your contacts, comparisons, a briefing before every meeting, the full guide library and daily coaching, with the Chrome extension included; an admin can buy it for a team at $49 a seat a month. Team Assessments, for running assessments on participants who need no licence of their own, is billed annually with limits covering the year: Starter $500 for 10 participants and 10 reports, Basic $1,500 for 60 and 60, Pro $5,000 for 240 and 240, with curriculums, packaged kits and a customer success manager, and larger programmes quoted. Buyer Profiles, the sales product, is custom priced per team with no self-serve checkout. The API and MCP server are credit-based, paid per profile created and per read, with re-reads in the same billing cycle free and the prompt endpoint free.

The terms are firmer than the pricing page: subscriptions are monthly or annual and renew automatically unless either side gives written notice, payment obligations are non-cancelable and amounts paid non-refundable, so cancelling stops the next charge rather than refunding the current one; you keep everything you made, and Massachusetts law governs with courts in Nashville.

Profiles, briefs and the API

The Chrome extension is the daily tool: open a LinkedIn profile and Crystal shows the predicted type with do-and-don’t advice for an email or call. Premium adds briefs for your contacts and a briefing before each calendar meeting. Buyer Profiles does the same for a sales team with a LinkedIn connector, a HubSpot connector and team billing. The API returns a DISC type, archetype and traits for an email, LinkedIn URL or name and company, communication and selling playbooks, a relationship matrix across a group, and an adaptation endpoint that rewrites a drafted email for its reader; the MCP server exposes the same tools inside Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot.

What that means for cold email

Crystal helps where someone actually adapts the message: a short list of high-value prospects, a first line and call to action tuned to each, written by a rep or by an agent calling the API. It does nothing for a templated sequence to ten thousand contacts, and the predictions are inferences from public profiles, so treat them as hints. At $49 a month for unlimited reads it is cheap enough to test on one campaign and judge by reply rate.

Who Crystal is for, and who should look elsewhere

Crystal suits reps who write personalised cold emails by hand and want a cheap hint about how each prospect prefers to be addressed. It is a poor fit for volume senders whose sequences are templated. Apollo and Clay enrich who you write to rather than how, and ContactOut finds the contact details. The enrichment category compares them.

Using Crystal with PureMail

Use Crystal, or its API from an agent, to adapt the first line and call to action of a hand-written email to the prospect’s predicted style, then send through your sequencer from PureMail’s warmed Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 inboxes on separate domains. Keep the volume per inbox modest and reserve Crystal for the short lists where a tailored message can move the reply rate.

Crystal FAQ

How much does Crystal cost?

As of 22 October 2026, the free account never expires and includes 10 contacts and 10 LinkedIn profile reads. Crystal Premium costs $49 a month or $490 a year, and $49 a seat a month for teams. Team Assessments is billed annually: Starter $500 for 10 participants and reports, Basic $1,500 for 60, Pro $5,000 for 240. Buyer Profiles and API volume are quoted.

Is Crystal free?

Yes, with limits. The free plan lets you take every assessment, read your full personality profile, keep up to 10 contacts and read 10 LinkedIn profiles through the Chrome extension, and it never expires; Crystal says there is no timed trial because of it. Unlimited LinkedIn reads, briefs on contacts and meeting briefings need Premium at $49 a month.

What does the Crystal Chrome extension do?

Crystal for Chrome shows a predicted DISC personality type and communication advice on every LinkedIn profile you open, and puts the coach on every new tab. The free plan allows 10 profile reads; Premium makes reads unlimited and includes the extension. Buyer Profiles, the sales product, adds the same extension plus LinkedIn and HubSpot connectors for a whole team.

Does Crystal have an API?

Yes. The Personality API, REST v4 with an MCP server, looks up a person by email, LinkedIn URL or name and company and returns a validated DISC type, archetype and traits, with playbooks for communication and selling and an adaptation endpoint that rewrites a drafted email for the reader. It is credit-based, paid per profile created and per read, with larger volumes through sales.

How does Crystal fit a PureMail cold email setup?

Crystal is a writing aid, not a sending tool. Use it, or its API, to adapt the first line and call to action of a hand-written email to the prospect's predicted style, then send from PureMail's warmed Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 inboxes through your sequencer. It pays off on short, personalised lists rather than templated volume.
